What is a role model dog and how does it benefit my dog?
A role model dog is a calm, balanced dog that’s part of our training environment. These dogs help guide and accelerate your dog’s behavior journey by showing them what positive interactions look like.
Dogs learn faster and more deeply when they can see what “good” looks like. Whether it’s walking calmly on leash, ignoring distractions, or simply relaxing in a room. Our role model dogs set the tone and offer a powerful way to socialize and recalibrate your dog in real time.
Do you train dogs with bite history?
Yes. We specialize in helping dogs others have given up on, including those with bite histories. Biting is often a last resort. A sign that the dog has been living in stress, confusion, or fear without a clear way out. We take behavior seriously and don’t make excuses, but we also don’t shame dogs for trying to cope the only way they know how.
Each dog is evaluated carefully to ensure safety, and we work closely with you to develop a plan that supports lasting behavioral change, not just symptom suppression.
what does pawsitively balanced mean?
The name Pawsitively Balanced is a play on words—and a stance. In the dog training world, there’s often a divide between “positive-only” and “balanced” training. We believe in something more powerful: a positively balanced approach.
That means using praise, play, and motivation heavily but pairing it with structure, clear boundaries, and accountability when needed. Dogs thrive when they know what's expected, and feel good about getting it right.
Our goal is to create dogs who are not only obedient, but emotionally balanced and deeply connected to their people.
why balance(d) training?
At Pawsitively Balanced, we believe that life is a constant act of training. Whether we realize it or not. The question isn’t if we’re training, but what we’re training—intentionally or unintentionally. That’s why we embrace a balanced training approach rooted in both effectiveness and fairness for the dog and the owner.
Balance is a natural law. It shows up in every part of life: from sun and moon, to rest and movement, discipline and freedom. Nature is always recalibrating. And just like the world around us, our relationships especially with our dogs require that same conscious attention to harmony.
In today’s fast-paced world, many of us lose touch with that balance in ourselves. When that happens, it can show up in our dog’s behavior: anxiety, frustration, reactivity. Balanced training helps restore that connection offering structure without rigidity, freedom with boundaries, and communication with clarity.
We’re not just training dogs. We’re building balanced relationships. And when both dog and human are in sync, transformation becomes possible.
